Knowledge, making an impact on economic development, social progress and human culture, changes destiny. With hard work, we all can reach a bright future. This conviction is behind why we put emphasis on students’ academic performance, language competency and study habits. Continuing to enhance our professional capacity with more frequent professional exchanges will be our major concern for the coming academic year. We also aim at enhancing learning and teaching inside the classroom by implementing assessment for learning and tracking assessment data and learning outcomes together with the optimization of subject panels and committees under the school self-evaluation (SSE) mechanism.
Whole-person education providing ample opportunities for students to discover and pursue their dreams and success has always been our school mission. To help them adapt to the fast changing world, we are nurturing our students to become all-rounded and confident youth and future leaders with a student-centred approach. We have been striving for providing a wide range of learning activities for diversified development, experience of success and self-actualization, by collaboration with different sectors of the community.
LYC places equal importance on academic and personality development. We aim to nourish a set of attributes: appreciation, exertion, care, self-discipline and integrity. Our focus for this academic year is ‘perseverance and exertion’. Su Dongpo, a renowned Chinese poet once said, “Any successful people must possess grit in addition to their born talent.”
Similarly, a huge and well-equipped school does not guarantee high quality and efficacy. Rather, of paramount importance are the staff team’s abilities and efforts in creating a learning environment conducive to the development of a proactive, caring, respectful, appreciative and accepting personality as well as self-esteem and a sense of achievement.
2017-18 Major Concerns:
To foster self-regulated learning and to boost teaching efficiency.
To cultivate the gifted and to cater for learner diversity.
To nourish LYC attributes.
With a concerted effort from the IMC, parents, alumni and staff, we are educating our students to become hopeful and caring citizens who embrace lifelong learning and shoulder social responsibilities.
